E. W. HOLLEY ART

ART IS MY POEM WITHOUT WORDS!

My name is Emanuel W. Holley, and for nearly three years now, I have been navigating the challenging waters of chronic kidney disease and dialysis. This arduous journey has had its share of ups and downs, and I deeply miss the consistency of working and creating art.

Despite these challenges, I am driven by a passion to innovate and bring new possibilities into your living, work, and business spaces. Every day, I am inspired by the motivated and positive individuals around me who break their chains and rise above self-imposed limitations. I understand the difficulty of achieving goals that those with strong family support may often take for granted.
Archimedes once said, “Give me a lever long enough and a place to stand, and I can move the earth.” This quote resonates deeply with me. As a former at-risk youth, I was fortunate to receive support from loving and caring people, which has shaped who I am today.
It is now my duty to give back through my art and use my voice to speak healing into the world. I believe that individuals must be willing to participate in their own rescue and that it is essential to either change or remain fully committed to their current situation.
I owe a great deal to Ms. Brenda Boyd and Mr. Mort Diamond, who gave me the opportunity to join the Maryland Institute College of Art Young People’s Studio Program at the age of 13. This program offered a fantastic platform for young people like myself to explore their talents early on. Artistic exploration is among the best ways for kids to build confidence, solve problems, and think critically. The Young People’s Studios provided a nurturing environment where budding artists could begin to unleash their creative energy.
Today, balancing the roles of a mentor, life skills coach, and servant leader is a struggle, especially while dealing with chronic kidney disease. Some days are tougher than others, but my passion for connecting with individuals who share the vision of changing the world through art keeps me going. Despite the ups and downs, I push through each and every day, driven by the hope and potential that art brings to our lives.
